Bees, Bats and Beyond
When I get a call for service, people usually tell me that they know there is something living in their attic, ceiling or walls because they hear scuttling noises. Their first thought is that they have mice living in the home. Usually I can determine what type of animal they have by asking them a few simple questions. The first question that I ask the caller is "at what time of day do they hear the noises". This is a very important question because it can tell me whether the noise is caused by a nocturnal or a diurnal animal. Also by describing the type of scuttling noise I can determine whether it is a mouse, squirrel or perhaps some larger animal such as a raccoon, opossum or the like.
