Local Wildlife

The following is a collection of videos taken in my back yard showing my pond system and the wildlife surrounding the area.  The pond system consists of a small ~700 gal. upper pond flowing into a ~20 gal. mini-pond which then empties into the main ~10,000 gal. pond.  The small pond is actually called a "vegie filter" and is considered to be part of my filtering system.  Construction of these ponds can be seen at the "Pond Construction" page.

Big brown bat:
This video shows me releasing a bat out onto my back yard.  The bat was removed from inside a bedroom of a local home.

Baby rabbit:
Here I am holding one of three baby rabbits which I found in a nest while doing yard work.  The nest was located in the front yard right next to a yard ornament.  This rabbit has been continuously visiting our yard since this video was made.  I can tell it is the same rabbit by the markings on his forehead.

Spotted Turtle:   This is a male spotted turtle which happened to be visiting my pond.  You can tell it is a male because it has a concave plastron (bottom shell), brown eyes and a thick tail.  A female spotted turtle will have a flat plastron, her eyes will usually be yellowish or orange and her tail will be elongated and thin.
